Youth & Adolescent Services

The Council offers programs and services designed to help youth and adolescents by preventing or interrupting the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. Our goal is to create an exciting and enthusiastic environment in which students gain the knowledge, skills and support necessary to reach adulthood without abusing substances. Consistent and repeated no-use messages that are age-appropriate and provided over an extended period of time, family-focused and peer-oriented strategies are key to success when working to prevent or treat substance use.

The High Road Adolescent Outpatient Treatment Program
The High Road Adolescent Program offers Intensive Outpatient Treatment and Alternative Peer Group support for teens ages 13 through 18 and their families.  We are committed to helping teens and their families as they begin a comprehensive, lasting process of change.  We provide ongoing programs in family systems based counseling, especially in relations to issues of substance use, dependency, codependency, compulsive behaviors and addiction.

School & Community Youth Services
Our prevention specialists, trainers and counselors combine traditional strategies with unique approaches to engage youth in the classroom, training sessions and in treatment. Council staff provide substance abuse education, assessment, counseling, treatment and case management services to youth, adolescents and their families. To ensure services are convenient and accessible, these programs are offered in schools, community settings, juvenile probation offices, corporations and at The Council. In addition, the Prevention Resource Center (PRC) at The Council is a clearinghouse of free information on alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, as well as a resource for programs addressing these issues.

Annually, more than 3,800 students participate in The Council's school- and community-based prevention programs. The PRC assists nearly 86,000 individuals and Council staff conduct 570 presentations each year. If you are interested in prevention pamphlets or posters, a curriculum-based education program for your school, community organization or workplace; a substance abuse assessment for an adolescent; an intensive outpatient treatment program or alternative peer group for your child or you would like to schedule a presentation, The Council can help.
